Town of Chester – Full Time Firefighter/EMT

The Chester Fire Department is now accepting applications from qualified individuals interested in filling a full time FF/EMT position. The schedule is an average of 40 hours per week, consisting of (5) eight hour shifts, Monday – Friday. This position is eligible for overtime based on guidelines established by the Chief.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must meet the minimum requirements of Part Fire 701 of the NH Fire Code
  • Pro-Board Firefighter II Certification
  • Nationally Registered EMT (Preference to AEMT or Paramedic)
  • Current CPAT
  • NH CDL B with airbrake & tank endorsement or higher (or obtain CDL within 6 months of hire)
  • NH Fire Inspector I or higher (or obtain within 12 months of hire)
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive driving and background check
  • Flexibility to handle general administrative duties as well as Fire/EMS duties on a daily basis

Lateral transfers from New Hampshire fire departments are encouraged to apply and must be compliant with NH Part Fire 703 of the NH Fire Code. Compensation commensurate on experience and current certifications. New hires may be required to sign a Letter of Commitment guaranteeing their willingness to remain with the Chester Fire Department for a minimum of three years. All new hires are subject to a probationary period of up to one year.

Chester Fire Department conducts pre-employment medical, drug, and alcohol testing for all successful applicant candidates.

Town of Chester – Full Time Police Officer

The Chester Police Department is seeking motivated, hardworking applicants of exceptional character for the position of full time police officer.  Candidates must be at least 21 years old and must have high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license and excellent communication and writing skills. Must have ability to meet current requirements set forth by the Police Standards and Training Council for the State of NH (NHPSTC). Preference will be afforded to those candidates already certified by NHPSTC or whose out-of-state police certification would be recognized by NHPSTC. Applicants may be required to pass a written exam, physical agility test, oral board interviews, psychological testing, extensive background investigation and medical examination. Current base pay ranges from $39,520 to $52,700 depending upon experience / qualifications.  The Town of Chester offers an excellent benefits package.

Town of Chester – Part Time Police Officer

Town of Chester – Occasional Recording Secretary

The Town of Chester is seeking an experienced recording secretary to occasionally take minutes at local government meetings, held on various evenings during the week.  The successful candidate must be able to take precise notes quickly in addition to interpreting and transcribing these notes later.  S/he must have knowledge of correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.  Familiarity with Roberts Rules of Order is helpful; familiarity with New Hampshire RSAs is a bonus.  Other requirements include reliability, punctuality, flexibility, and a sense of humor.
