How to Register to Vote - Updated as of May 10th, 2021

There are Four Ways to Register to Vote:

You may register to vote with your local Supervisors of the Checklist. The Supervisors of the Checklist hold regular voter registration/change sessions in their office, Room #6 at Town Hall.

You may register to vote in person at the Town Clerk’s office at 84 Chester Street up to 10 days before any election. The Town Clerk's hours are:

  • Monday & Wednesday: 8:00am to 2:00pm
  • Tuesday & Thursday: 10:00am to 6:00pm
  • Friday: Closed to the public

You may register to vote on the day of any election, at the polling place. Be aware this will take extra time.  And please be aware that you may not register to vote at the polling place on the day of the School District Meeting or the Town Meeting, only at the Elections.

Each of these methods requires proof of age, citizenship, and domicile, by document or affidavit.  Please have your driver’s license with your current address on it (or proof of residency - two (2) bills that are mailed to your home in your name) AND either your birth certificate, passport, or naturalization papers with you to register.

You may register by mail.  If you meet the state’s voter requirements and qualifications and are unable to register in person because of physical disability, religious beliefs, military service, or temporary absence, you may register by mail. You should request an absentee voter registration affidavit and a standard voter registration form from the Town Clerk. The absentee voter registration affidavit must be witnessed and then both the affidavit and the voter registration form are to be returned to the Town Clerk.
