Event Date:
Tuesday, April 2, 2024 - 6:00pm

The Town of Chester is asking residents to come out for a discussion on the natural resources of their community, and to offer input on future conservation planning. This community forum will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 6:00pm at the Chester Town Offices in the Main Meeting Room in Chester. Please join us in sharing your wildlife experiences, favorite natural areas and recreational destinations, and concerns regarding Chester’s growth and natural resources protection.

Recently, the Chester Conservation Commission initiated the Natural Resources Inventory (NRI) and Open Space Conservation Plan, which articulates the Town’s vision for natural resources protection and land conservation. The Commission has contracted with Moosewood Ecological LLC of Chesterfield, NH to assist with this project, which includes biodiversity assessments and wetlands evaluations in preparation for the Plan. This project will also assess Chester’s land use planning documents to understand how town regulations help to protect critical natural resources. Ongoing community outreach and engagement are key for the overall success of the NRI and Open Space Conservation Plan. Join the conversation and be a productive part of this important process. Let’s explore Chester’s natural resources and open space planning!

For this first forum, Moosewood Ecological LLC will provide town participants with a background of the project, as well as facilitate discussions regarding the strengths and challenges of growth and natural resources protection in Chester. For more information on the community forum or other aspects of this project, please contact Victor Chouinard, Chair of the Chester Conservation Commission, at conservationcommission@chesternh.org.
