Solar Working Group

In September 2021 the Selectboard issued a Request for Proposal (RFP), seeking a vendor interested in a long-term lease, or any other mutually agreeable arrangement, for the development of a solar array on a parcel of Town owned land.

The project was awarded to ReVision Energy, who performed their due diligence and discussed the installation of a solar array on the Town's closed landfill at the intersection of Dump Road and Raymond Road, adjacent to the Transfer Station.  Unfortunately this project proved untenable due to restrictions for the usage of that particular property, and the Warrant Article approving the project was tabled at Town Meeting 2022.

Subsequently ReVision provided a proposal to install a solar array on a portion of the open property behind Town Hall; although this project was brought to the Legislative Body via a Warrant Article at Town Meeting 2023,  a number of residents were not in favor of tying up the property for that use and the Article failed.

Although the Town will not be spending any taxpayer funds on this particular solar project during the upcoming Fiscal Year (23-24), a suggestion was made that a Solar Working Group be formed in order to determine if there is truly any interest in the subject.

A number of residents volunteered to join this Working Group, and were appointed at the Selectmen's meeting of May 18th, 2023.  Their mission, to assess and recommend solar power options to offset municipal electrical costs and provide revenue to the Town, is expected to be achieved by January 18th, 2024, at the latest, and they may be disbanded afterwards.

Their first meeting has been scheduled for 6pm on Thursday, May 25th, 2023.  The public is welcome to attend.
