Town of Chester – Full Time Police Officer

The Chester Police Department is seeking motivated, hardworking applicants of exceptional character for the position of full-time police officer.  Candidates must be at least 21 years old and must have high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license, and excellent communication and writing skills. Must have ability to meet current requirements set forth by the Police Standards and Training Council for the State of NH (NHPSTC). Preference will be afforded to those candidates already certified by NHPSTC or whose out-of-state police certification would be recognized by NHPSTC. Applicants may be required to pass a written exam, physical agility test, oral board interviews, psychological testing, extensive background investigation, and medical examination.

Current base pay ranges from $50,644.40 to $71,489.60 depending upon experience / qualifications.  A hiring bonus of up to $5,000 will be dependent on prior experience / qualifications.  This position will remain open until filled.

Town of Chester - Recreation Department (Seasonal)

Chester Recreation offers several employment opportunities for our summer recreation program which will run from July 1st – August 9th.

Program Coordinator:     $14.00 per hour
Assistant Coordinator:    $11.00 – $12.00
Lead Lifeguard (WF):     $10.00 – $11.00
Lifeguard (Waterfront):   $  9.50 – $10.00
Lead Counselor:             $  9.50 – $10.00
Counselor:                      $  8.50 – $  9.50

Training Days:  There will be additional training days prior to the start of the program including a mandatory training scheduled for Saturday, June 22nd

Town of Chester - Park Rangers (Seasonal)

These position(s) serve as a positive presence and deterrence to misbehavior in the park and, together with the Police Department, assures that the safety and well-being of park users is properly maintained at all times. As an employee of the Town of Chester, the Park Ranger is vested with the authority to order a person (or persons) to leave (or not to enter) Town of Chester property in order to follow Federal or State laws, or Town of Chester ordinances, rules and regulations in accordance with NH RSA 635:2, Criminal Trespass.

The Park Ranger works directly with the Police Department and is a great opportunity for someone looking to enter the field of law enforcement to gain valuable experience.

Coverage is needed 7 days/week, varying hours dependent on the weather.  Approximately 30 hours per week from mid-May until mid-September

Town of Chester – Occasional Recording Secretary

The Town of Chester is seeking an experienced recording secretary to occasionally take minutes at local government meetings, held on various evenings during the week.  The successful candidate must be able to take precise notes quickly in addition to interpreting and transcribing these notes later.  S/he must have knowledge of correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.  Familiarity with Roberts Rules of Order is helpful; familiarity with New Hampshire RSAs is a bonus. Other requirements include reliability, punctuality, flexibility, and a sense of humor.
