Town of Chester - PACT - Part Time Station Coordinator

Chester PACT is looking for a qualified person for a Part Time Station Coordinator.  Position requires 20 hours per week at a competitive hourly rate of pay.  The person is required to have technical knowledge of video production, to include but not limited to filming, editing, and production of internal shows.  Ability to operate a keyboard, video cameras and related equipment; working knowledge of Microsoft office programs; ability to view computer screens and work with details for extended periods of time; effective communication skills with various town boards and town members; understanding that the hours of this position will require non-standard working hours.  Regularly required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear; operate objects, tools, or controls; pick up paper, files, books, and other common office objects weighing up to 10 pounds, and agrees to follow the Town of Chester Personnel Policies.  A complete job description can be found at https://www.chesternh.org/chester-pact .

Town of Chester - Park Rangers (Seasonal)

These position(s) serve as a positive presence and deterrence to misbehavior in the park and, together with the Police Department, assures that the safety and well-being of park users is properly maintained at all times. As an employee of the Town of Chester, the Park Ranger is vested with the authority to order a person (or persons) to leave (or not to enter) Town of Chester property in order to follow Federal or State laws, or Town of Chester ordinances, rules and regulations in accordance with NH RSA 635:2, Criminal Trespass.

The Park Ranger works directly with the Police Department and is a great opportunity for someone looking to enter the field of law enforcement to gain valuable experience.

Coverage is needed 7 days/week, varying hours dependent on the weather.  Approximately 30 hours per week from mid-May until mid-September

Town of Chester - Transfer Station Attendant

The Town of Chester, NH prides itself on its clean and efficient Transfer Station.  We are in need of enthusiastic individuals who care about the environment enough to assist in assuring that trash and recycling materials are properly handled.  Recycling is mandatory in the Town of Chester, and materials are expected to be pre-sorted and correctly brought to our Transfer Station for placement into labelled areas.  The attendant must demonstrate the following:

  • The ability to follow directions and to assist residents to drop off materials properly.
  • The ability to multi-task in a busy environment where traffic may be ongoing and people are unloading materials to bring to various locations.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs., to handle materials efficiently, and to move quickly if needed.
  • Assist residents and other Transfer Station attendants as directed.
  • Must be dependable, reliable, and timely.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • Be willing to clean and manage trash and recycling areas so that they are kept neat and tidy.
  • Be willing to obtain Solid Waste Facility Assistant Operator Certification
  • Learn about recycling materials and what is acceptable and not acceptable and the rules of the Chester Transfer Station.

Town of Chester – Full Time Police Officer

The Chester Police Department is seeking motivated, hardworking applicants of exceptional character for the position of full time police officer. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and must have high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license and excellent communication and writing skills. Must have ability to meet current requirements set forth by the Police Standards and Training Council for the State of NH (NHPSTC).

Preference will be afforded to those candidates already certified by NHPSTC or whose out-of-state police certification would be recognized by NHPSTC. Applicants may be required to pass a written exam, physical agility test, oral board interviews, psychological testing, extensive background investigation and medical examination. Current base pay ranges from $39,520 to $52,700 depending upon experience / qualifications. The Town of Chester offers an excellent benefits package.

Town of Chester – Occasional Recording Secretary

The Town of Chester is seeking an experienced recording secretary to occasionally take minutes at local government meetings, held on various evenings during the week.  The successful candidate must be able to take precise notes quickly in addition to interpreting and transcribing these notes later.  S/he must have knowledge of correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.  Familiarity with Roberts Rules of Order is helpful; familiarity with New Hampshire RSAs is a bonus. Other requirements include reliability, punctuality, flexibility, and a sense of humor.
