Statement from the Chester Town Fair Committee – September, 2022
The Town Fair Committee was approached over a year ago to combine the Town Fair with the 300th Celebration. The decision was made that due to the scale of the events already planned by the 300th Anniversary Committee and the intent of a broader audience, it would be more suitable for the 300th Anniversary Committee to plan, organize and execute this year’s celebration.
On Thursday, September 8th, the members of the Town Fair Committee learned that the 300th Anniversary organizers had hired an event planner with prior criminal offenses. We want to address the questions surrounding our knowledge of the situation and our decision to not play an active role in the planning of the festivities. As previously stated, the Recreation Director and the Town Fair Committee had no prior knowledge of the event planner’s history and therefore our decision was not influenced by this hiring. We hope for an enjoyable tricentennial celebration of our beloved town.
The Town Fair Committee is looking forward to once again planning the traditional Chester Town Fair set for September 2023.
