Chester Basketball Season

Hope you all are doing well.  Just wanted to touch base regarding the basketball season this year.  I attended a Lamprey River Basketball League (LRBL) meeting this evening to finalize the league guidelines for the season. As there are currently only two towns confirmed, the LRBL will not begin its season until the first of the year.  This is to allow other towns an opportunity to hopefully be able to participate at some level.  As for Chester, we do not have access to the Chester Academy gym for the season and town facilities are still closed for public use.  We are hoping that we can offer some sort of program after the holiday season.

In the meantime, players have some options. Raymond is offering to allow Chester to register teams using their facilities when they become available. Raymond is also offering to allow Chester players to enroll in their program if space allows if we do not have the numbers for a full team with a coach. Raymond is still waiting for approval to have practices.  They have made arrangements with the RIM in Hampton to play in their recreation league with games to begin on December 4th.  Raymond will also play games in the LRBL when they start in January.  If interested in joining Raymond, you must contact them by this Friday - https://www.raymondnh.gov/youthprograms

Navigating recreation during the current pandemic has definitely been a balancing act.  While keeping parks and trails open to support physical and mental health, we are doing everything possible to deliver services and programs to support the community.  Please continue to check the Recreation page on our town website for news or updates.

Stay healthy and well,
