Transfer Station Swap Shops
There are two “Swap Shops.” The first accepts usable ceramics, kitchenware, and other household ‘bric-a-brac’. The second accepts books. Both of these swap shops were built as Eagle Scout Projects by the Scouts of Chester’s Boy Scout Troop 163. Swap Shops are open for limited hours when the Transfer Station is open - Wednesday 6pm - 8pm and Saturday 10:30am - 1:30pm.
The facility also accepts donations of usable, non-particle board furniture to be stored for Chester’s families in need and/or the Boy Scouts’ Annual Yard Sale (Troop 163’s annual fundraiser for operating expenses.)
Please note electronics are not accepted for the Swap Shop. Freon-containing appliances are not accepted, except for refrigerators in "like new" condition.
FYI, usable clothing can be donated to the Chester Clothes Closet, which is a volunteer-run project located in the rear of the Chester Municipal Building (located at 84 Chester Street.) Donations may only be dropped off when the Clothes Closet is open.
